ED! Sustainable Summer Design Experience 2011
The Sustainable Design Experience on 10, 11 and 12 November will be organised by ED! Academy for Sustainable Design, Education and Communicationin The VIDE Workshop.

For the Sustainable Saturday we have invited several ‘green’ entrepreneurs to join there vision with the audience!

Clients of all colours are more often aware of the fact that sustainability matters to both the environment and the business community at the same time. In fact, sustainability and communication thereof has become essential in order to remain competitive. Today’s juncture requires design professionals who in addition to the creative talent are also perfectly familiar with the environmental issues, sustainability principles, soft skills, strategy an reputation management: designers, who can think and act out of the box and who are perfectly able to advise companies and organisations in their ‘change agents’ role. So investing in knowledge development in the sustainability domains not only means you are protecting Mother Earth, but also your own career as a graphic designer.
VIDE seeks to promote sustainable graphic design in the Netherlands, provide information and organise educational programmes, inspiration, debates and several design research programmes to contribute to the practical training of students and professionals in the future.
On the initiative of and in association with graphic designer Andrea Fuchs, this year VIDE will be organising for the very first time the international Summer Graphic Design Experience dedicated to sustainable graphic design. During this Experience, to be held from 29 August to 03 September, participants will be introduced to material and production aspects, sustainable internal and external communication, inspiring practical examples and data sources that should allow them to design and/or manufacture items in a more sustainable manner.

This experience, as from 15.08 until 28.08 will inform the participants about type design and typography and about Dutch design in general.
The Experience program will be prepared with the greatest care and will be guided by top designers Donald Roos and Jacques Le Bailly!
The experience will be totally offered in English!
The fee of this 2 weeks Summer Design Experience will be 1.800 euro’s.
The fee includes hotel costs in The Hague throughout the Experience period, travelling expenses, the famous VIDE lunch, coffee, tea and soft drinks provided during the VIDE Workshop, as well as the Experience reader.
An option is a third week (29.08 – 03.09) with a visit to Berlin, Germany: the VIDE Berlin Experience!
The extra costs are 800 euro. The trip by train to Berlin and the hotel costs in Berlin are included.
Discounts of 5% are given when you register before the 1st of June, if you bring your own laptop and if you are part of a group of at least 3 participants.

One of the questions is to send us a digital portfolio, so we are able to receive important information about the skills and experiences of the participants in design.
This information helps us to design the Experience program.
